Committee Reports- Planning Commission and Water Report

Unfinished Business- Third reading of the Proposed Ordinance, Adopting & Establishing new water rates appointment and looking at hiring a code enforcement Officer.

New Business: 1st presentation, 2016 Budget, Review of Inclement Weather Policy & Procedures and the monthly review of income statements.

 

Garfield City Council Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of every month, 6pm at Garfield City Hall, unless otherwise noted.

Garfield's planning committee will begin meeting on the last Thursday of the month. Except for November, due to Thanksgiving and December due to Christmas. Therefore, Garfield's Planning Committee meeting in November will be Nov. the 19th at 6pm and December's will be the 17th at 6pm.  Then, they will pick back up their regular schedule in Jan. 2016 being the last Thursday of the month, unless otherwise noted.

Since Garfield has been looking at walking trails, bicycle trails, cross walks and  pedestrian safety, we wanted to share this with those of you who may want to attend. The AHTD will conduct a public meeting to present and discuss the results and recommendations of the Arkansas Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation plan. To be held on November the 3rd 2015 4-6pm at the Northwest AR Regional Planning Building 1311 Clayton Street Springdale, AR. ATTENTION CITY OF GARFIELD RESIDENTS:

A special City Council Meeting has been called, by the City's Aldermen. The purpose of this Special meeting will be to address the resignation of the City of Garfield's Water Superintendent, Mickey Kelley.

The meeting will be held at City Hall- Tuesday the 25th at 6PM.

The City is seeking public input on a proposed water rate increase, scheduled to be charged to the customers of the Garfield water system, beginning in 2016'.

ALERT: SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The City of Garfield will be holding a special City Council Meeting on Monday 6/15/15 at 6pm in the Garfield City Hall. This meeting will be to discuss the State Aid Street Program Funding for Alvin Seamster Rd. and Wimpy Jones RD.

From the Mayors desk: In order to hire a City Attorney, Garfield City ordinance requires that a resolution be approved by a majority of the City Council members. Although the Council voted to hire the Slinkard Law Firm at the last regular City Council meeting, a resolution was not presented, nor passed. I Mayor Gary Blackburn, take full responsibility for the oversight and intend to present the resolution to the City Council at the next regular Council meeting. I apologize for my error.

Memorial day weekend activities from NEBCO FIRE-EMS...Bring your company and tell your neighbors. Both events will be held at the NEBCO Community Center, Hwy. 62 & S. Wimpy Jones Rd., Garfield.

1.) Saturday (23rd): Music at the firehouse with The Black Oak Band from 7-9pm. Room to dance. Free parking. Free admission. Donations welcome.

2.) Monday (25th): Memorial Day Country Breakfast. 7-10am, they will be serving up a complete breakfast, just $7 for adults, $4 for kids 5-12, and for under 5 years of age it will be free.

The next City Council meeting will be held on June 9th, 2015 at 6pm; in Garfield City Hall's Meeting room. The City Council meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month, unless otherwise noted.
